WHAT
In informal meeting / borrel to meet others who are interested in or curious about the Minoan Sisterhood. This is in part to gauge if there is interest in beginning a formal grove, or simply continue a casual, regular meet-up.

*The Minoan Sisterhood was originally created in the late 1970s for lesbians interested in initiatory witchcraft. (See the History section below.) And of course things have evolved! This interest meeting is intended for those who identify as FLINTA and likely of interest most to those who, in some capacity or definition, identify with the expression "women who love women", every word in that phrase open to nuance and revision and redefinition -- "love" and "women" can mean myriad things. (We're magicians. We can shapeshift language as much as anything else we desire to shift.)
There are several Minoan Brotherhoods for gay and bisexual men, including at least one in the Netherlands. Queer men, intersex, non-binary, transgender men, and agender who identify more closely with "men who love men" are more than welcome as well, and Wren (the organizer) can help you find groups who may align most with your interests. The Sisterhood owes its existence to Eddie Buczynksi and the founding members of the Minoan Brotherhood.

While the Brotherhood almost disappeared during the HIV/AIDs epidemic, it saw a significant rebirth beginning in the 1990s and there's a sizable population of Brothers in the United States today, with several Groves and Temenoi (Temples) in Europe.
The Sisterhood, on the other hand, never really grew in numbers, in part because there were so many other forms of witchcraft for queer women, including initiatory Wiccan covens. Today, the vast majority of initiatory covens are committed to inclusive practice.
Those who pursue the Sisterhood often feel a kinship to the history of the Brotherhood and Eddie Buczynski's poetic interpretation of Minoan culture, seasonal rites, and magical practices.
Today, there is roughly a handful of practicing 3° Minoan Priestresses in the United States (to initiate others, a Sister must be of the 3°). There are currently two Minoan Sisters in Europe (to my knowledge), a 2° in Italy (who will be elevated to 3° very soon), and myself, Wren, a 3° as of May 2026.

ABOUT ME
My name is Heather, and I was initiated into Garderian Wicca in 2016, and started my own coven over the pandemic. We work in a hybrid model, with six other members along eastern U.S, getting together in person once or twice a year. After learning more about Eddie Buczynski from a research project, I pursued initiation in the Sisterhood, and was initiated and elevated through the third degree in May 2026.
I moved to the Netherlands for a second graduate degree in June 2026, and will be here for the next two years (possibly longer if I pursue a PhD). While I love my online Gardnerian coven, the Minoan tradition is very different. I've been practicing it online with another Sister in the U.S. but if there is interest, I'd like to pursue this particular practice with an in-person group. But if that isn't meant to be, that's okay too!
